Alexandre Manuel lives in Lagos, Portugal. He fell in love with photography in 2000, while traveling around São Paulo in Brazil. With a disposable camera in his bag, he started capturing every corner of urban landscape he came across in this wonderfully strange, enormous city. His travels quickly became his school.
He is fascinated by the temporary nature of photography. By using a long exposure, high key technique and through the study of atmospheric conditions, he tries to portrait scenaries that seem untouched by time. Before traveling the world to capture natural wonders, he studied semiotics at University in France. He won several international awards; his works were exhibited in different countries across Europe and many are part of private collections around the world. |
